| *shimmer* from Philippines (Sep 2010) | |
| Hello there! I am 28 years old, female and from the Philippines. I like to have pen pals from Singapore, Hongkong, Italy, Brazil, Greece, France and Mexico but pen pals from other countries are also welcome but must be 27 to 28 years old. Well, I want to have pen pals my own age. ;) My hobbies includes writing to friends/pen pals, watching TV and movies, listening to music, reading, blogging, surfing the internet and traveling. I also like art (thought I am not an artist or somewhat creative), accessories, tea, make up and colorful things. I want a pen pal that writes in his/her own handwriting, decorates the writing sheets and envelopes, funny and honest and really, really cool! I hope someone out there want to be friends with me. Please send me a message. Thanks. |

| A. from Belgium (Sep 2010) | |
| I am a passionate person, whom thinks and reads a lot. A day dreamer too, someone whom likes to walk around aimlessly, discovering new places, people and things. Sometimes I can be very talkative, sometimes I keep very much to myself. And like everyone I have days when I feel glorious and others during which I feel down. I wouldn't say that I am a happy, cheery person, I rather am a reflective, melancholic soul. One with a distinct passion for the famous Scandinavian melancholy. I always have many questions circling my head and I believe that each day you can learn something new. Some questions are contradictions. I often question my own busy lifestyle and yet I bake cookies, do the dishes and watch tv at the same time because doing just one thing bores me. Maybe we are being pushed by this society too much? About learning I don't think that you ever can possess enough knowledge, there always is something you do not know yet or you haven't done yet. I love summer tv because each day an intriguing documentary is broadcasted, this summer I have learned about Russia, nuclear tests, diamonds, how people live in different countries,... Gaining knowledge is so easy these days, you have libraries, bookstores, the internet,... all at hand. Lot's of things only are a few clicks away but it is up to us to separate the right information from the wrong. Internet as a source is great but also contains lot's of rubbish. Days spend with friends are glorious days, their company enlightens me. How rare is it to meet someone with whom it clicks effortlessly. With whom you can be yourself no matter what, whom understands you by only looking at you? I think that those friendships are very rare and I consider myself as being very lucky that I have a person like that in my life. SLI is someone with whom I never have to pretend, we leave home baked cookies for each other in our lockers at work or little notes on each others desks. We can talk about light as well as serious topics and sometimes we don't have to say anything at all. Which brings me to coincidences, we cannot control them and that is so fascinating. For instance if I would have driven to work five minutes later, the women wouldn't have crashed into my car. Do you think that coincidences are orchestrated to teach us all something or do they happen at random? When I need a quick get away I go to Paris for one day, le palais royale is one of my favourite places. You just must see the shiseido shop there, it is unique, very dark, very boudoir like. Paris is a city that never seizes to amaze me, the shops, the architecture,... I do find it all stunning. Belgium has very nice cities too but in my eyes nothing can beat Paris. My mission is to learn to speak French as fluently as my mother tongue. I still hope to discover Eastern Europe a bit more and would love to make it to Oceania. I am fatally attracted to Eastern European countries and their run down look, perfectionism is not that much fun. Whom wants everything to look the same and to be sterile? Not me that is for sure. I believe that traveling opens the mind and heart and god knows that I have been doing way too little of it for the past three years. I am currently in a transitional period and am trying to turn my life around a bit, so hopefully I manage to travel again, to explore and discover. At the moment I am discovering my own country, just because I find that I don't know it well enough yet. I have discovered many truly wonderful places and am planning to continue my quest. About changing my lifestyle, sometimes it is necessary to turn away from all the things you know and start something new. We all know the people whom drag their selves to work each and every day, whom are interested in nothing anymore and whom have a dead look in their eyes. I was becoming one of those as well and it scared me. I currently do not know what the future will bring but I feel alive and full of confidence again, full of hope. How is it that we never give up hope? People can betray us and yet we do not give up to believe in the human race. How come that most of us are strong enough to re bounce while others are not? And why does this current society expects so much of us? Should we simplify our lives? I am fond of food as well and I like different cuisines. Am always willing to try new things and I adore to bake. I am in a cookies faze at the moment. Thanks to an American friend I am discovering the delights of gingersnaps, ANZAC cookies, ... I am a bit of an animal lover. My cat is currently sleeping on my lap as I type. I get worried when it rains outside and she is outside as well and I always try to keep her inside when they forecast thunder or storm. I do know that she is a tough little cookie but still,... I just do not want to loose her. I am looking for: What can I say, I love to write and I need to write. Paper never is demanding, it is patient,... For me pen palling is more than just exchanging mere words, it is about having a deep connection with someone. With some pals I just exchange letters, with others I exchange pictures, gifts, cookies and so much more. And just like everyone I have some ground rules: * We have to click. It doesn't happen with everyone unfortunately. * You have to write long letters, be open and tolerant. * You have to recognize that friendship = to hard work. Both parties are responsible for the outcome. There are ups and downs. Sometimes you or your pal are going through a difficult faze and I do believe that you should support and cheer each other on. You should listen, offer advice and try not to jump to conclusions or to judge someone too quickly. * You have to be able to write about different topics. I take an interest in many things, from fashion to politics in Russia. So educate me about you, your country, traditions, what you read/watch/listen to, what is on your mind, what is disturbing you etc. I don't want to sound too harsh or overbearing. But I have been writing letters for 12 years and have seen and been through a lot. I have written people long letters and got one scrappy page in return or nothing at all, loyal pals disappeared without a word or a trace,... If I accept any new pals it must be worth while it. So I expect long introductions and I also expect you to write the first letter. I think that that is only fair, if I contact you first I'll also offer to write the first letter. A message to all fellow pals here, never give up writing. Never bite in the dust and forget all about ink and paper. I am looking forward to hear from you and to learn more about YOU. My hobbies: Having fun with friends, long letters (writing and reading them), reading mainly novels, detectives and magazines. Fashion, cosmetics and lifestyle and culture in general. Traveling and visiting places where I have never been before. Am currently trying to explore my own country a bit more. These days I find that most people travel to foreign countries, without knowing the country they live in. Sometimes you can be caught by surprise and discover a tradition or an area in your own country that takes your breath away. Photography and architecture. Culture in general really. I like local culture products, independent products. Browsing the internet, knitting, baking,... I still have a lot to learn as far as baking and knitting goes. As for baking, I am exploring the delights of coconut macaroons, ANZAC biscuits and yet have to try to make icing/frosting. I still have so many recipe's to try. As for knitting, I am looking for the perfect pattern to make a tip scarf. So if you have found one yourself, please do share it with me. I am very impressed with people whom spin and colour their own wool and I like 100% alpaca/cotton/... yarns. I like to learn, watch documentaries. I like the saying that you can learn something new each and every day. I regularly watch Scott Schulmans blog. I also have his book, I find him and other bloggers inspirational. When I go to a store and see the same things over and over again, I become sad. What happened to quality, beautiful fabrics, special cuts,... Have they become unaffordable for you and me? I love anything I cannot find here or is hard to find here with a passion, why is the grass always greener on the other side? I am passionate about the New Yorker, Stila cosmetics, Marc by Marc Jacobs (the really cheap items), Stendlers soap (thanks to my pal Di),... I do believe that people should be passionate, that they should pause to think now and then. We are not robots, whom get up, go to work, get home, cook, watch tv and go to bed again. Never mind I do it, I am part of the rat race but I often think about it and hope at least that I am different from all the people whom only live for their work or whom doesn't pause to think about this world and what is happening to it. I always seem to have some goals but I am rather bad at executing them, however I want to make soap, knit that tip scarf, continue to bake, go to Paris and London again and think and ponder and think again. My current object of affection is the Apple Nano, how can something that small has such cool features? And hold so many songs? I don't follow most technology trends but I thing that the future has a few mighty interesting things in store for us. I am looking forward to hear from you. Take care. |

| LibraryGirl Writes Long Letters from America (Sep 2010) | |
| There is a bit of an adventure at hand whilst writing letters by Post, as you get to meet people from far off lands and form friendships through correspondances. I am a fierce reader, who loves to browse her library's card catalog for newly added gems in both adult and young adult fiction. My letters tend to be a bit on the chatty side as I like to write about my everyday life, discovering new vegetarian or vegan recipes (and finding that they do not always turn out the way you hope!), my darling yet cheeky cats, my yarny dreams, BBC comedies and dramas, motion pictures, and the hope of enjoying Autumn! Seeking out a few new pals/correspondants who are in their mid-to-late twenties to mid-to-late thirties. I am a pence past thirty myself! Family and friends are important to me, and so, please don't hesitate to write if the same is true to you! American, Canadian, European, UK, Australian/New Zealander correspondants most welcome! If you think we have a bit in common, kindly respond! Fellow bookworms encouraged! | |

| Helen from England (Aug 2010) | |
| Hey everyone! I’m Helen, almost 25 and from England. I am looking for some new, genuine, long letter pals, who want to establish a lifelong friendship through handwritten letters. Please only females around my age, and only long, handwritten letters. I would especially like to find pals from Germany (especially the Stuttgart and Munich areas, because I used to live there and would love to connect with people there) and Austria. I have a degree in German, but I don’t get to use my language skills much anymore, so I would really like to find German speaking pals to keep up my language. Genuine female pals from other places are welcome too though. Some of my hobbies and interests are reading (I am a huge bookworm!), watching TV and movies, traveling, learning (I love to learn and study), languages (besides German, I have just started to learn Japanese by myself .. I enjoy a challenge!), penpaling of course, collecting postcards, crafts, animals, shopping, and many many more things besides. If we had some things in common, that’d be awesome. It’s great to have some differences, but it’s also important to have a few common interests too, I think. If you think we would make good pals, drop me a line! |

I am not necessarily looking for Swappers, as money is tight, but I like to add small things to my letters when I am able too. | |
