Hi! I am interested in writing to women from all around the world. I am a happily married mom of a great teenage boy. I've recently returned to College and am studying Literature. I hope to find good pen pals who know how to listen as well as write. We don't have to have all the same interests, as long as there is a genuine reciprocity in our correspondence. I do like the Beatles, 70's music and Norah Jones. I have recently started reading the classics like the Bronte sisters, Robert Louis Stevenson, Mary Shelly and Leo Tolstoy. Hope to hear from some of you great ladies out there!

Caroline (Cara) from USA (Jul 2010)
Greetings & Salutations.

I'm a 46 year old Asian American woman looking to correspond with New Zealanders (Kiwis) since my partner & I are hoping to emigrate there in the future (we have our heart set on Dunedin).

I personally feel that letter writing (via "snail mail") is a lost art and would love to correspond with someone who shares my interests:

I am a professional baker and enjoy swapping recipes.

I am an avid reader and love to read anything about food - essays, prose, mysteries, cookbooks, food history. I also enjoy reading classic literature, short stories, and mystery novels . . . Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers, Louise Penny, & Laurie King are among my favorites

I am an absolute nut for Anthony Bourdain and think he's the funniest, cynical commentator on the planet!

I'm a sci/fi fan and yes, I am a Star Trek geek!

I have a love of archery and just started learning.

I am the Queen of useless film trivia (most classic films).

I love listening to classic jazz e.g. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, etc. I also love the Beatles, Who, The Jam, Paul Weller, Split Enz, Crowded House, Joni Mitchell, and X.

I love Labradors, especially chocolate and black labs.

I love films . . . among my favorites are Little Miss Sunshine, Mostly Martha, Eat Drink Man Woman, Tampopo, Babette's Feast.

I generally describe myself as a optimistic pessimist or a pessimistic optomist - sort of like a cross between Margaret Cho & Janeane Garofulo.

That's quite a bit of info and that's just on the surface.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers!
Aida from Malaysia (Jul 2010)
Hi!
I’m Aida and I’m from Malaysia. I am 34 years old and married. I love writing letters. I have started writing to overseas pen pals since I was 12 years old. But I’ve stopped writing a few years ago because of my work. I’m more of an active swapper then.
But I want to start anew on my letter writing hobby... and that’s why I am here.
I’d like to have snail mail pals from all over the world. I prefer hand written letters (no typed and no e-pals please) and please do not write me such a long introductory email and expect me to write the first snail mail letter.
I love reading and photography. I also love shopping, watching Korean dramas, cute stationeries and creativity as well as individuality. I also love making Friendship Books. The only thing that I collect is bookmark (I use that for my reading).
I would also prefer to have someone around my age as my pen pals. And please, no men.
Well, hope to hear from you soon.
Nelda from USA (Jul 2010)
Hey everybody! Looking for some snail mail pals and/or swappers. My name is Nelda. I'm 41 and married almost 21 years to the only man I was ever nutso for. We have two daughters 18 and 19. I'm in eldercare taking care of a three ladies right now. Lovely girls, but kooky sometimes!

We have an old lazy almost hairless 13 year old Chihuahua who loves microwave popcorn and equally old still black and hairy cat. They're the joy - and sometimes the terror- of our house!

I enjoy lots of hobbies- not all at once, mind you. That would be exhausting, to say the least. I love 80's music!, travel, pen palling(of course!),family, cooking and eating!), reading ((are there any Regency fans out there?),category romances, some sci-fi),movies, TV( America's Got Talent, Dr. Who, British comedies, history programs),ancient Greek and Roman history, some crafts, teas, chocolates, other cultures, crazy cats and goofy dogs as well as other cute animals and oh, so much more.
I collect a lot of stuff since I don't have room to show collections. I do collect postcards, stickers, stationary and cute s/p shakers( I just a pair of turkeys!).
No men (happily married, so forget it as I just delete your from my inbox),inmates(really, why don't you folks listen? I just tear up and throw away those letters so don't waste the state's money, please), money schemes (don't have any), marriage proposals(1 man is enough for me!), scams(I was born in the morning, but not yesterday morning) or other foolishness. Only honest ladies looking for long letter long term snail mail pen pals or swappers.

southerngirl from USA (Jul 2010)
Hello,
I'm looking for one or two like-minded females to share a long, sincere friendship with. I'm a 34 year old American, married with an 8 year old son and an 11 year old daughter. Don't watch too much TV, but am a big fan of Lost, Treme, and The Wire. I'm also a major bookworm and could spend hours in a musty old independent bookstore. Due to the economy here, I've not been able to find a job that pays enough to counter the after-school child care costs. I'm definitely someone who enjoys staying busy and would like to have a meaningful career sometime in the near future. If you consider yourself to be a person who thinks outside the box, we will probably get along great! A few things you should know:
I'm a Christian who doesn't believe in trying to pressure other people into believing the same things I believe.
I'm very into current events (and not just in my country) but our political views don't need to be the same.
It might be strange, but I am not into Facebook, MySpace, text messaging, The Twilight Series, or celebrity gossip.
I've dealt with depression all my life, but I refuse to live without joy, thankfulness, and a wicked sense of humor.
I could care less about whether or not someone uses cute stationary, etc.
I will talk/write about absolutely any topic and am loyal, genuine and honest.

If any of the above strikes a chord, send me an email and we'll go from there!
Anna from Philippines (Jul 2010)
I am looking for SNAIL MAIL PEN PALS ONLY are welcome. I am NOT looking for romance. I don't have any money to give out (I spent it all!). I will NOT reply prison mail.

I love adventure travel! I even enjoy traveling within the Philippines as we have many beaches and thousands of islands. I love the sea and sun and just simply enjoy being there. I love islands as well and the more remote the better I feel.

I'm a collector of Buddha figurines. I enjoy collecting antiques and antiquities (ancient objects). I have a degree in psychology and sociology, but I am interested in many things like cryptozoology. I believe there are creatures out there we haven't discovered yet or refuse to believe they exist, and they aren't just the stuff of legend or myth.

I like reading. I'm not a book snob and lie to you that I only read serious, and deeply well-written books set in the medieval. I can appreciate a novel swimming in synthetic sugar on every page because it can mean a huge relief for me who breaks the monotonous drab of the lonely days, visiting libraries and escaping into the world, where nobody suffers from varicose veins. I also enjoy reading historical books, fantasy fiction, articles and short stories, and even comic books (Asterix & Obelix or The Adventures of Tin Tin).

I do art as a pleasurable pastime because when I travel or sit down to write a letter, I also keep a journal of the things I have seen and done. I love art journaling and mail art. I cook, walk, watch movies at the cinema with mom, hang out at cafes, enjoy road trips, and magic, and lots of other things.

I love to write about anything as I am very liberal minded and can converse on many subjects except pages of kids stuff as I don't have any kids yet. I don't want to know how many times you changed your baby's diapers. I don't hate kids, but don't write me a hundred pages only about your kids, you know? A couple of sentences would suffice. I'm more of an animal lover especially doggies :o)

I accept both typed or handwritten letters, but I usually hand-write mine depending where my mood takes me and my letters are long.

I don't really swap but it depends on the friendship; if someone has something that they love to swap, then we'll swap it. Otherwise, I just send random things: a printed napkin or take-out menu of a really great restaurant I've just been to, a candy wrapper, a business card from some idiot who wanted to network with me, or stuff from my country you can't find anywhere else.

All I would ask is can I please have letters that are literate as a minimum, I can do FBs (friendship booklets) if you wish & swap postcards from time to time. Just make your letters 'alive', conversational and interesting and I'll be there! If you can draw or doodle, I LOVE mail art letters. It's a great way to jazz up a letter.

I have one rule though. Because my intro is long & detailed, I would appreciate it highly if you were to write me a long intro also. I want my time and stamp worth every second and cent. Email to get my postal address!
Carolyn from Canada (Jul 2010)
Hello,My name is Carolyn I am 41 years old.I have been married for 15 years and have two beautiful children.
I am looking forward to making new friends.
Anna from Philippines (Jul 2010)
Hi, I'm Anna, 36, from the Philippines, married, no kids, dog lover & owner, psychology graduate, collects Buddha figurines, has an affinity for clicky pens, into conspiracy theories, and I like the Twilight series (Team Edward!).

I am into art & photography, taking pictures, poetry, history, alternative medicine, humor, long letters & snail mail, movies, cooking, aromatic plants, cryptozoology, parapsychology, graffiti, road trips, creativity and so on.

I am NOT looking for romance at all. I am looking for chatty but quality letter writers who loves the complete randomness that can happen to you through the use of the postal system, I'm here for you. I'm more concerned about what kind of conversation we can have and what kind of stories and thoughts we can share than I am about where you live or how old you are. It's your insight that I appreciate.

I don't mind if you type all your letters or hand-write as long as I can read them. Email me to get my postal address. I'm into snail mail only NOT email correspondence. See ya in the world of pen and paper!
Louise from UK (Jul 2010)

Michael from USA (Jul 2010)
I'm 45, divorced with two sons and a girlfriend. Not sure that I'm ready for marriage again, but would like to find a penpal out there who shares my cautiousness. Someone I can BS with. I prefer to snailmail as getting bills in the mail instead of letters, SUCKS! I love cars, writing letters, fishing, spending time with my sons and girlfriend, etc. Will respond to anyone.

Swedish animal and letter lover from Swedish (Jul 2010)
I want female pen pals from preferable Europe and I can write in English and French. Since I always have loved to both write and get long chatty and not shallow letters I want you to be able to keep in touch with me on a regular base. We can though exchange photos for instance by e-mail. I am 48,5 year young, living with a man since almost 29 years and retired because of illness. The things I most appreciate from my friends are honesty, an open mind, to be able to give a lot of response and give a lot of themselves and loyalty. A sense of humour is never wrong and neither is it you like me adore all animals and perhaps even owns a pet like me. Except for writing I love to go for walks at the sea and in the forest and in big parks since I love big, old trees. I also like music a lot and English detective series on the tele. I read rather lot and I would like to travel a lot too. If you are not prepared to really make an effort do not answer then because I have been let down by far too many shallow and disloyal persons as it is. I do hope I don´t ask for too much but that only time can tell. Keep the spirit up!
